No Contests for White County Primary

The 2024 Primary election here in White County will have no races.

That’s according to the petitions that were filed by Monday afternoon’s deadline to declare an intention to seek office in the March primary.

Running unopposed will be Republicans Kenny Usery and Cassie Pigg. Usery represent County Board District Three, while Pigg represents District Four. She is currently the board chairperson.

Earlier this year, it looked like Usery might face opposition from John Stockton, who had picked up a petition but failed to file by the deadline.

Chris Marsh is unopposed for coroner. Marsh, a former Democrat switched parties several election cycles ago.

Kelly Fulkerson, long time county circuit clerk, a Democrat will have no opposition either.

And with  Republican Denton Aud accepting a position as associate judge, he will not seek re-election to the state’s attorney job. However, Christopher Neal will be seeking that position as a Republican.

A number of Republicans filed petitions for precinct committeemen. They are Valinda Rowe, Enfield Four; Chula Schlesinger Fleming, Carmi 13; Milton York, Mill Shoals Two; David South; Enfield Four; Becky Wheeler; Indian Creek 6; Kelli Chapman; Hawthorne 28;  and Alexa Hortin, Heralds Prairie 22.

There were only three Democrats to pick up precinct committemen petitions and to file. They were Tim Scate, Carmi 18; David Hays, Heralds Prairie 22 and Tom Scates, Emma 30.

The primary election will be held March 19th.
