Republican and Democratic candidates for the March 19th primary began filing their nominating petitions yesterday, the first day to file the petitions.
Locally, three people filed their candidacy papers Monday morning. They were Ken Usery for County Board District Three. Usery is the incumbent but may face a challenge from John Stockton, who picked up a filing petition earlier this year.
At this time, there are no other races for county offices as Kelly Fulkerson, the only Democrat seeking office has no opposition. Clint Spencer, the only other democrat holding a county office is not up for reelection this cycle.
Other Republicans who have picked up petitions include Denton Aud for State’s Attorney, Chris Marsh for Coroner, Cassie Pigg for County Board District Four.
Picking up petitions for precinct committeemen are David South, Enfield Four; Becky Wheeler Indian Creek Six, Chula Schlesigner Fleming, Carmi Thirteen; Milton York; Mill Shoals Two; Kelli Chapman, Hawthorne 28, Alexa Hortin, Heralds Prairie 22 and Valinda Rowe, Enfield Four. Rowe turned in her petition Monday morning.
At this time, no Democrats have picked up petitions for county board or precinct committeemen slots.
Petitions must be filed by next Monday, December 4th by the end of the business day.
