Crossville Man Busted

A Crossville man was housed in the White County Jail after being arrested on six different offenses.

Just before midnight Tuesday, Deputy Michael Brown of the White County Sheriff’s Department was on patrol on Cherry Street in Carmi when he came to the Cherry Street and Church Street intersections and saw a black 2007 Honda Civic go through the stop sign heading south on Church.  After pulling the vehicle over to a driveway on Kerney Street near Sherwood, the Deputy asked for the driver’s registration information, license and insurance, but was only given his driver’s license.  Dispatch said it was valid and was for 27 year old Logan Ray of Crossville.   When asked if he had any vehicle registration information, Ray said he did not.  After checking the vehicle’s VIN number with dispatch, the Deputy found it was also valid.  Ray said he had sent off for the title and hadn’t received it back yet.  When told the license plate didn’t match the vehicle, Ray said he was just trying to go from one place to another.

Deputy Brown said that was a Class A Misdemeanor and Ray was placed under arrest.  The Deputy then inspected the vehicle and found a container in the driver side floor board.  It had a glass smoking pipe with residue and a bag of a crystal substance, that Brown believed with his training and experience that it contained methamphetamine.  The pipe also had a crystal-like substance inside it.  And a scale was found behind the driver’s seat with a crystal substance on it.

Logan Ray was taken to the White County Jail and the contents inside the glass smoking device were tested.  It was found to contain meth and fentanyl.  Ray was issued citations for Unlawful Use of Property, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Display of Registration, and Disobeying a Traffic Control Device.
