The Carmi-White County Lady Bulldog Volleyball team will travel to Bloomington this weekend for the IHSA State Finals. Carmi punched their ticket to the Final 4 after defeating Champaign St. Thomas More in 3 sets at the Robinson 2A Super Sectional.
The Lady Bulldogs will face off against Elmhurst Immaculate Conception Catholic Prep, yes that is the name of the High School. They are a private school located just west of Chicago. CWC and IC Catholic will battle in the state semifinals on Friday at Noon.
They were ranked the #1 team in 2A in the IHSA’s end of the regular season poll, but that doesn’t scare the Lady Bulldogs. Carmi has knocked off 3 Top-25 teams in this postseason journey, and they’re ready to add one more to that list.
If the Lady Bulldogs win on Friday, they will take on the winner of Breese Mater Dei vs Rock Falls in the State Championship Match on Saturday at 2 PM.
If the Lady Bulldogs lose on Friday, they will take on the loser of Breese Mater Dei vs Rock Falls in the 3rd Place Match on Saturday at 12:30 PM.
Fans will be able to listen to both of CWC’s matches on 97.3 FM WRUL and online at wrul.com.
The Carmi-White County Girls basketball team has begun their 2nd week of practice, but of course due to the volleyball team’s extended postseason, the Lady Dogs are missing about 6 players. The Lady Bulldogs were scheduled to begin their season next Tuesday at home against Mt. Carmel, but that game has been moved to Monday, December 18th. Carmi will now begin their season next Thursday, the 16th at Lawrenceville.
