The McLeansboro City Council met for about an hour Tuesday night for their regular monthly meeting.
In public comments, Letitia Wiggins of the Women’s Leadership Council of Hamilton County addressed the board about holding a 5K run on the streets of McLeansboro on October 28th beginning at 9 AM. She said it would be a fundraiser for their Imagination Library, which provides books for children to read. Later in the meeting, the board approved the 5K run.
The Beautification Task Force talked about making improvements downtown around the square, such as putting in street lamps or adding plant and/or flower boxes. Also repairs need to be made to the roof of the gazebo. The money for the improvements would come from TIF funds. The board approved the task force putting together a proposal, which would be discussed at next month’s meeting.
The board approved two pay estimates from Klingner Engineering regarding the Sanitary Sewer Evaluation System. One as of August 6th for $12,141.43 and the other as of September 10th for $55,076.17.
Also approved were amendments to the city budget, which will allow the transfer of funds from one department to another to balance them out.
The city will look into purchasing a VAC trailer, which is used for locating underground utilities.
The city gave approval for a site plan to be drawn up to reconstruct the dog pound, with the proposal to be brought up next month.
The board, after second reading of an Ordinance, approved two hour parallel parking on the outside of the McLeansboro Square, which will be from 8 AM to 6 PM Monday through Friday and from 8 AM to 8 PM Saturday.
The Consent Agenda was approved. It includes approving an ordinance allowing interfund borrowing, approval of the September Zoning Report, setting Trick or Treat hours of 5 to 8 PM on October 31st, setting City Wide Cleanup at the Light Plant at 312 West Market Place for Monday through Wednesday October 2nd to the 4th from 7:45 AM to 3:30 PM and Thurdsay October 5th from 7:45 AM to 6 PM, and approving four TIF reimbursements.
The board went into an Executive Session at 6:34 PM for discussion of minutes legally closed and discussion on employment of specific individuals.
