A serious accident on I-64 Sunday afternoon resulted in a pair of motorcycle riders being airlifted for medical services. According to Illinois State Police, the accident happened around 3:18pm on westbound I-64 around milepost 122. Preliminary investigation shows the pair were on a ’97 Harley when a rear tire sustained a blowout causing the driver to lose control and leave the roadway to the north. Both driver and rider were subsequently thrown from the bike. Medical personnel arrived to treat both individuals and they were airlifted to an Evansville hospital for what authorities are calling serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
