Local Sports Recap – September 11, 2023

The Carmi-White County Lady Bulldog Volleyball team took home the championship at the Benton Invitational Tournament on Saturday, defeating Salem, Sesser, Harrisburg, Chester and Valmeyer in the championship. Lauren Burzynski, Caroline Simmons and Ashlyn Rager were named to the All-Tournament team.
The Lady Bulldogs are now 11-1 on the season, they will host Edwards County tonight at McDougal-Evers Gymnasium. Fans will be able to watch the game on the WRUL Sports YouTube Channel.

The Carmi-White County Boys Golf team took part in the Benton Invite on Saturday, and the Bulldogs finished in 5th Place with a team score of 344 through 18 holes.
Maxon O’Daniel shot an 82.
Gabe Winkleman shot an 83.
Aidan Willis shot an 88.
Connor Newell shot a 91.
Cayden Holloman shot a 94.
Both the boys and the girls golf teams will host Zeigler-Royalton this afternoon at the Carmi Country Club.

The Carmi-White County Jr. Pro Football teams traveled to Hamilton County on Saturday, the 5th & 6th grade Bulldogs fell 48-0, and the 7th & 8th grade Bulldogs won 38-22. The 7th & 8th graders are now 4-0 on the year. Both teams will host Johnston City on Saturday.
