Mt. Vernon River Days
The annual Mt. Vernon, Indiana River Days celebration is set for this weekend, Friday and Saturday.
Action will get underway Friday morning at 11 with the official opening ceremony with the local American Legion Post participating.
The weekend includes an antique tractor display. The “Smoke on the Ohio” barbecue competition will also get underway Friday.
Friday night includes the Little Miss and Mr. River Days Pageant plus the first ever Lighted Boat Parade on the Ohio, at 7:30pm.
Wolfgang’s Orchestra will provide musical entertainment on the main stage.
Fireworks will close out Friday night’s activities.
Saturday will get underway early with a 5K run. The day includes classic cars, a pet parade, a cornhole tournament, and a talent show.
The big River Days parade, with a theme of “Bring the Farm to Town” will get underway around 4 Saturday afternoon.
Saturday night will feature the Retro Shock Band.
Along with the special events, organizers of River Days remind everyone there are lots of vendors and great food throughout the celebration. The festival will close down around 8 Saturday night.
