It’s not often you see a mayor in the weeds, genuinely and literally pouring sweat equity in to better his town. Carmi Mayor Jeff Pollard isn’t afraid of a little hard work though and was out with other city employees Thursday morning helping with the parking project on College Boulevard. The summer storm that knocked out power to the entire city along with multiple other projects put the parking development behind and city workers in a rush to get as much done as possible before school started. With most of the heavy lifting now done, workers are doing some landscaping and railing. Lighting is expected to come soon and O’Daniel will be blacktopping everything on the south end later today. The other part of the project, on Herbert Avenue, Pollard says won’t be tackled until next summer.
