It’s setting up to be another busy weekend throughout Carmi. The Carmi Kiwanis Club’s annual Pancake Day kicks off the day at First Christian Church beginning at 6:30am. Today (Friday) is the last day to get advance tickets and save yourself a dollar per order. Advance tickets for $6 are available at the radio station in downtown Carmi. The breakfast includes pancakes, sausage and drink. If you wait until Saturday morning to purchase at the door, you’ll pay $7 per plate. Orders are available for drive thru or dine in.
The second annual Pets RULe Pet Fair is also coming up on Saturday from 9 – noon. This year’s Pet Fair event is being held at the White County Fairgrounds due to construction at the downtown City Park. Pets at Risk had an overwhelmingly successful first year and organization president Tammy Knight says this year is shaping up to be even bigger and better. Among the family activities planned include face painting and Mermaid themed professional photos courtesy of Evil Eye Creative Studio. Digital prints will be made available at just $10 per photo. Pet services include discounted microchipping and nail trims. Microchipping is being made available for just $10 and will help you locate your pet in the event it gets lost and is found by someone else. About a dozen vendors in total will be on hand with a variety of pet products and services. The non profit has also secured somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 raffle baskets thanks the generosity of individuals and the business community. Folks who drop by will have the chance to purchase tickets and place them with whichever raffle baskets they most want to win. You can find pictures and descriptions of the raffle baskets on the Pets @ Risk Carmi-White County facebook page. Additionally, food and drinks will be available on site thanks to the Boy Scouts and there will be treats and puppacinos available for your furry friends as well. It’s 9 – noon tomorrow (Saturday) at the White County Fairgrounds.
