The Carmi-White County Bulldog baseball had their season come to an end last night with a 7-2 loss against Mt. Carmel in the 2A Regional Semifinals.
The Bulldogs jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning after a 2-run home run by Caleb Seibers, but the Bulldogs would only collect 3 more hits for the rest of the game. The Golden Aces were able to score 5 times in the 3rd and 2 more times in the 6th to pull away with the 7-2 victory.
The Bulldogs end the season with a record of 12-15, and the careers of seniors Zack Roark and Jaxen Albright come to an end. Congratulations to the Bulldogs on a great season.
The Carmi-White County Lady Bulldog softball team will play for a regional championship this afternoon against Hamilton County in Benton. The Lady Bulldogs defeated Benton 11-1 back on Wednesday, and Hamilton County upset Fairfield with an 11-2 win. Carmi looks for their first regional championship since 2016.
The IHSA Girls State Track Meet preliminaries took place at Eastern Illinois University yesterday afternoon. Unfortunately no Lady Bulldogs advanced to the next round on Saturday. Ashlyn Rager missed the cut in discus by just 9 inches. Congratulations to Ashlyn as well as Callie Accord, Ally Pollard, Makyla Seibers and Gabbie Conover on a great track season.
