The Carmi-White County Bulldog baseball team defeated Fairfield yesterday afternoon by a final score of 7-4.
The Bulldogs scored 2 in the 2nd, 2 in the 3rd, 2 in the 4th and 1 in the 6th to hold on for their 9th win of the year, finishing the conference season with a 6-4 Black Diamond Conference record.
The Dogs will travel to Grayville this afternoon to battle the Bison, they will then travel to DuQuoin tomorrow for a doubleheader, weather permitting.
The Carmi-White County Lady Bulldog softball fell to Fairfield yesterday by a final of 6-5. Carmi led 5-1 going into the 6th, but the Lady Mules scored 4 times in the 6th and walked it off in the 7th.
Despite the loss, the Lady Bulldogs claim a share of the Black Diamond Conference championship with Flora losing to Hamilton County.
The Lady Bulldogs are now 14-8 on the year as they finish 8-2 in the BDC East. They will travel to Benton tomorrow, weather permitting.
The IHSA released the baseball and softball postseason brackets back on Wednesday. The Bulldogs will be the 5-seed in the north bracket of the DuQuoin Sectional, and they will host their own regional beginning on Wednesday, April 17 when they play 3-seeded Mt. Carmel.
The Lady Bulldogs are the 2-seed in the north bracket of the Pinckneyville Sectional, they will play either Benton or Eldorado in the semifinals of the Benton Regional on Tuesday, April 16th.
