Local Sports Recap – April 27, 2023

The Carmi-White County baseball team fell at home yesterday afternoon to Mt. Carmel by a final score of 8-6. 

The Bulldogs led 6-3 heading into the 5th inning, but the Aces scored 4 times in the 5th and once in the 6th to comeback and get the win, dropping CWC’s record to 8-11 on the year.

The Bulldogs are scheduled to play at Hardin County tomorrow afternoon, weather permitting. 

The Carmi-White County softball team picked up a 9-0 road win at West Frankfort yesterday afternoon.

Audrey Upton was dominant on the mound once again, striking out 8 batters while allowing 0 runs on just 5 hits and 1 walk.

CWC improves to 12-7 on the year, they are scheduled to travel to Robinson on Saturday, weather permitting.

The CWC Boys Track team finished in 2nd Place in the CWC Boys Invite yesterday afternoon, finishing just 4 points behind Flora.

Bryce Conner finished in 1st Place in the 400 Meter Race.
Trey Dixon finished in 1st Place in the 800 Meter Race.
Tanner Spence finished in 1st Place in the 1600 Meter Race.
Kale Wiggins finished in 1st Place in the 110 Meter Hurdles.
Nelson Rider finished in 1st Place in Discus.
CWC also finished in 1st Place in the 4×2, 4×4 and 4×8 Relays.

The CWC Boys Tennis team fell on the road at Centralia yesterday by a final score of 7-2. The Bulldogs fall to 10-3 on the year, they will take on Marion tomorrow afternoon for Senior Night.
