Local Sports Recap – April 20, 2023

The Carmi-White County Bulldog baseball team fell at home yesterday to Harrisburg by a final score of 9-0.

Harrisburg led 1-0 after 1 inning of play but a 5-run 2nd inning from the Purple Bulldogs powered them to the shutout win. 

Carmi collected only 4 hits, Merrick Millhorn picked up 2 of those, Trayton Vickers and Kade Stockton both had 1 hit each.

The Bulldogs fall to 5-10 on the season, they will travel to Edwards County today to face the Lions. CWC beat Edwards County 2-0 back on Tuesday.

The CWC Lady Bulldog softball team will also travel to Albion today to face Edwards County. The Lady Dogs are 8-6 on the year and 4-1 in the BDC, they will look for the season sweep over EC as they took them down 6-0 back on Tuesday. Fans can listen to today’s softball game on 97.3 FM WRUL.

The CWC Girls Track team finished in 5th Place out of 12 teams at the Lady Bulldog Invite yesterday afternoon.

The Girls Track team will travel to DuQuoin on Tuesday.

The CWC Boys Tennis team fell at home against Carbondale yesterday by a final score of 8-1. The Bulldogs fall to 9-2 as they have faced the two toughest teams on their schedule in back-to-back days. They will host Mt. Carmel next Tuesday.
