March 18 Meeting

The Carmi League of Arts held a meeting on March 18, 2023, to discuss upcoming events and business matters.

The League received a report from the local high school, which included details about the recent Elegance at the Elks show. The show was sold out, and the League thanked state representative, Dave Severin, for his visit to the show. The report also covered the high school spring play Back to the 80s, which played from March 24-26. The League discussed volunteer opportunities for the snack bar and box office.

The League also announced upcoming high school events, including the One Niter in May, which has a theme of “Open Mic Night.” The band and choir concert date has been set to May 9. Auditions for the One Niter were held on April 10, from 3-8 pm.

The League’s summer art show will be accepting submissions on June 12, which will be displayed during the show on June 16-17. The League also hinted at the upcoming summer show, with a first look/sneak peek for those in attendance of the Back to the 80s show.

The League also discussed the potential for sponsorships and a budget proposal, which will be presented at the next meeting. The League also discussed plans for the children’s audition lines, and how rehearsals will be structured.

The League concluded the meeting by discussing upcoming school events, such as graduation and baccalaureate. The next League meeting will be April 15, 2023.

Show Announcement

The summer musical was officially announced on the League’s social media and website to be Disney’s The Little Mermaid. Auditions were held for both children and adults on April 1 and 8, respectively.
