Bulldogs, Lady Bulldogs Split with Flora on Tuesday

The Carmi-White County Lady Bulldog softball team defeated Flora yesterday afternoon by a final score of 6-2.

The Lady Bulldogs jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st inning after RBI singles by Addi Elliott and Alayna Johnson. 

Flora answered with one run in the top of the 2nd. The score remained deadlocked at 3-1 until the top of the 5th inning when the Wolfgals plated another, cutting the CWC lead to 3-2. 

That score stayed the same until the bottom of the 6th inning when the Lady Dogs scored 3 runs thanks to an RBI groundout by Addi Elliott, an RBI double by Mara Serafini and another RBI single from Alayna Johnson. Extending Carmi’s lead to 6-2 heading into the 7th.

With 2 outs and the bases loaded in the top of the 7th, Audrey Upton was able to strike out the side and clinch the 6-2 win for the Lady Bulldogs. 

Audrey Upton went 2-4 at the plate with 2 runs scored.
Addi Elliott went 1-3 with 2 RBI and a run scored.
Mara Serafini went 3-4 with an RBI and 2 runs scored.
Alayna Johnson went 2-4 with 2 RBI.
Kassi Milligan went 2-3.
Alexa Knight went 1-3 with a run scored.

Carmi has now won 5 straight games as they improve their record to 7-4 on the year and 3-0 in the BDC East. 

The Lady Bulldogs will wrap up the season series with the Wolfgats at Flora on Thursday.

The Bulldog baseball team has had a rough start to a long week, losing to Mt. Vernon on Monday and then falling to Flora on Tuesday by a final score of 9-1. 

The Dogs fell behind 1-0 in the top of the 1st inning, but they were able to answer on a Caleb Seibers sacrifice fly in the home half of the inning to tie the game at 1-1.

Flora was able to add a run in the 3rd inning, then another in the 4th to jump ahead 3-1 heading into the 5th inning, that is when things took a bad turn for CWC. 

Flora plated 3 runs in the top of the 5th inning and then 3 more in the top of the 7th to run away with a 9-1 victory.

The Bulldog offense only collected 4 hits on the afternoon.

Travor Mason went 2-4 with a run scored.
Cade Allen went 1-3.
Gavin Holloman went 1-3.
Caleb Seibers was 0-2 with an RBI.

The Bulldogs will play their 3rd game in 3 days on Wednesday as they travel to Johnston City, the Dogs will then travel to Flora on Thursday before traveling to Benton on Saturday for a doubleheader.
