The Carmi-White County Lady Bulldog softball team defeated Harrisburg and Goreville in a double header on Saturday, taking down the Purple Lady Bulldogs 12-2, and then defeating Goreville 12-1.
In Game 1, Carmi tallied 18 hits led by Mia Evans who had 3 hits and 4 RBI.
Audrey Upton pitched 5 ⅓ innings, allowing just 2 hits while striking out 7 batters.
In Game 2, the Lady Bulldogs used the long ball and a nine-run 5th inning to storm past Goreville.
Alayna Johnson hit two home runs and Mara Serafini hit her first home run of the year that ended the ball game in the 5th inning.
Upton put together another dominant performance on the mound, giving up just 1 run on two hits and striking out 13 batters.
The Lady Bulldogs are currently riding a 4-game win streak as they improve to 6-4 on the year, they will host Flora tomorrow afternoon.
The Carmi-White County Bulldog baseball team will host Mt. Vernon, Indiana tonight at Eckerle Park, first pitch is set for 5:30. Fans can listen to all the action on 97.3 FM WRUL and online at WRUL.com. The Bulldogs are 3-4 on the season.
The Carmi-White County boys and girls track teams will begin their seasons this week.
The girls travel to Hamilton County today, the boys travel DuQuoin tomorrow.
The CWC boys tennis team will host Union County, Kentucky at Bradshaw Park this afternoon. The Bulldogs are off to a hot start, beginning the season 5-0 for the first time since 2013.
Congratulations to CWC senior Tyler Goemaat who signed to play college basketball at Governors State University late last week. Goemaat averaged 9 points and 4 rebounds per game this past season, helping guide the Bulldogs to their best record in 24 years.
