A call in regards to a domestic dispute in progress resulted in the arrest of a Carmi woman Saturday evening. At around 8 PM Deputy Simmons with the White County Sheriff’s Department with assistance from the Carmi PD, responded to the call on Sycamore Street. Upon arrival Simmons spoke with 23 year old Dominiqe Spruell who advised the deputy to take her to jail. Simmons asked Spruell what had happened and she told the Deputy that she and her finance Michael Dent had been arguing and that she had scratched him on the arm and neck. When asked if Michael had hit Spruell she told the officers that he had not. The officers then spoke with Dent who told them they were arguing due to Spruell being intoxicated and wanting to drive. The Deputy asked Dent if the children were present during the altercation and he said they were. Dent told Simmons he did not want to sign a complaint against or fill out a voluntary statement against Spruell.
Spruelly was taken into custody and booked in the White County Jail for Domestic Battery. Spruell appeared in White County Court Monday where bond was set at $5,000 of which 10% has to be for her release. She is scheduled to appear in court for arraignment on April 10 at 9:30 AM.
