Last night the Carmi-White County Bulldog basketball team had their season come to an end after falling to Vienna, 70-47 in the IHSA 2A Regional Semifinal at Harrisburg.
The Bulldogs fell in a hole early, trailing 19-6 at the end of the 1st quarter, then trailing 33-19 at the half. Vienna was able to push their lead to 20 midway through the 3rd, but Carmi didn’t give up. The Bulldogs got within 9 with a little over 6 minutes to go in the 4th quarter, but the Eagles ended the game on an 18-4 run to pull away with the victory.
Bryce Conner led the Bulldogs in scoring in his final game of his career with 17 points.
Mitchel Edwards scored 11.
Landon Driscoll scored 9.
Tyler Goemaat scored 6.
Gavin Holloman scored 4.
The Bulldogs end the season with a 26-6 record, which tied them for the 2nd most wins in a season in school history, and also included the team’s first Black Diamond Conference championship since 2016, and their first CWCIT championship since 1999.
The Bulldogs went undefeated at home for the first time since 1987, and they won more games at McDougal-Evers Gymnasium than any other team in CWCHS history.
Congratulations to head coach Kevin Wolff and the Bulldogs on a great season.
