A rash of tire slashing has been reported to the Carmi Police Department. The CPD reports that over the past three days, there have been five reports made with most ranging in the same vicinity. Abby Weiss of Carmi reports that a tire on her Chrysler minivan was slashed on Friday evening while she attended a basketball game at Carmi High School. Weiss stated that her van was parked on Crebs Avenue when the damage occurred.
Jeffrey Bridgeman of 7th Street reported that a tire on his Toyota Camry had been slashed while the vehicle was parked in the back yard of his residence. Bridgeman told the CPD he believes the damage occurred sometime during the night of February 19th.
At this time WROYWRUL news has not been told whether the Carmi PD believes these are related or isolated incidents. Residents living in the area are encouraged to stay attentive and report any activity that may seem suspicious.
