Local Sports Recap – February 15, 2023

Last night the Carmi-White County boys basketball team defeated Lawrenceville by a final score of 68-57 to improve to 24-5 on the season. 

The Bulldogs trailed 35-32 at halftime, but an impressive 2nd half saw Carmi outscore Lawrenceville 33-25 in the final two quarters to pull away with a big non-conference win. 

Mitchel Edwards led the Bulldogs in scoring with 20 points.
Gavin Holloman scored 19.
Bryce Conner scored 18.
Tyler Goemaat scored 6.
Landon Driscoll scored 5. 

The win ties Carmi for the 3rd-most wins in a single season with 24.
The Bulldogs won 26 games in 1987 and 28 games in 1999.

Carmi will host Fairfield on Friday night for their final game of the regular season, as it will also be senior night. Prior to the game, CWC will recognize their 3 seniors, Bryce Conner, Tyler Goemaat and Tanner Spence, as well as the senior cheerleaders and band members. 

The Bulldogs will then begin regionals this Saturday at 3 o’clock at home against Anna-Jonesboro.
