IECC Board of Trustees Meeting – January 19th‏

The problems caused to the college District by the State’s failure to adopt a budget were outlined by CEO Terry Bruce and CFO Roger Browning.  The State provides over 40% of IECC’s operational budget and the State has made no payment to the District since July 1, 2015.  The District has earned approximately $11.9 million by June 30, 2016.  It is unclear whether the District will receive any of the State funding previously earned.

Bruce and Browning discussed a plan to meet the challenge of no state funding, including not filling some vacant positions and increasing enrollment.  The plan suggested over $5 million in revenue growth and cost savings.  The Board heard these recommendations at the regular meeting Tuesday, January 19 at Wabash Valley College, Mt. Carmel.

The Board of Trustees of Illinois Eastern Community Colleges approved bid recommendations for purchase of a Semi-Tractor and a Simulator at a total cost of $228,418 for use in the Truck Driving Program.   The equipment purchase is funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce.

The trustees approved an agreement with FIRMSYSTEMS for fingerprinting and background checks for students entering the Certified Nurse Assistant Program.

Approval was given for an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Fairfield Park District for use of an existing softball diamond owned by the Park District.  This field will be used by the FCC Softball team.

The Board accepted the Employee Satisfaction Survey Results which showed that employees are largely satisfied with the operation of the District.

Affiliation Agreements were approved by the Board for Health Informatics at Frontier Community College with SSM Health Medical Center, located in Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Fairfield Memorial Hospital.

The employment status of Samantha Weidner was changed from TRIO Upward Bound Counselor to Director, Upward Bound, effective January 21, 2016.
