Local Sports Recap – January 27, 2023

Last night the Carmi-White County girls basketball team lost on the road at Edwards County by a final score of 49-37.

Mara Serafini led the Lady Dogs in scoring with 13 points, Caroline Simmons scored 8, Shemaine Lovell scored 7, Johanna Smith, Lily Pollard, Ashlyn Rager, and Ebonie Hawkins all had 2 points, and Addie Elliot had 1 point.

The Lady Bulldogs fall to 9-16 on the season and 0-8 in the Black Diamond Conference. They will host Hamilton County on Monday. 

Last night the Carmi-White County freshmen lost a nail-biter against Harrisburg in the consolation bracket of the Hamilton County freshman tournament, 24-22. The freshmen Bulldogs go 0-2 in this year’s tournament. 

Tonight the CWC Bulldog basketball team will travel to Grayville to take on the Bison. The Bulldogs are 17-4 on the season, and are currently riding an 8-game win streak. Meanwhile, Grayville is having an up-year, with an 8-14 record, led by junior Tyzae Rowland who surpassed the 1,000 career point mark earlier this week. Tonight will be a varsity only contest, with tip-off scheduled for 6:15. Fans who can’t attend can listen to the game live on 97.3 FM WRUL and online at WRUL.com
