On the morning of Sunday, January 9th, White County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Brown was notified of Criminal Damage that occurred Saturday night at the Crossville dog pound. Brown spoke by phone with Sgt. Craig Poole, who said he received reports of four possible juveniles jumping the fence and taking a dog out of the fenced-in area. There may be some damage and they have had issues there in the past. Brown went to the pound, which sits on the north side of West Main St. in Crossville, and met with Mark Pearce of Crossville. Pearce showed where the fence had been pulled back and the area where the individuals had cut the fence. At that point the two went into the office where Pearce showed the Deputy the security footage of the incident. Pearce and an unidentified person signed a complaint with the Sheriff’s Department. No other information is available.
White County Sheriff’s Deputy Trey Simmons and two Carmi Police Officers went to 1212 West Sycamore Street in Carmi Sunday night to attempt to serve an arrest warrant to 21 year old Joshua Pollard. Pollard answered the door and was informed that there was a warrant out for his arrest. Pollard was wanted out of White County on a Failure to Appear Warrant for Stalking, Disorderly Conduct, and Assault. Joshua Pollard was arrested without incident and taken to the White County Jail and is being held on $500 bond.
The White County Sheriff’s Department received a report from a Norris City man regarding Criminal Damage to his property located in Carmi. On January 11th, Officer George Spencer responded to Operation Now at 1114 Illinois Highway 1 in reference to a large hole in the side of his building. Upon arrival, Spencer met with James Williams who stated that he observed the damage to the building on January 10th at approximately 10 a.m. and that the damage was not present on January 9th when he left the property. Williams said he is uncertain as to what caused the damage but he believed the damage may have been cause by some type of firearm. Williams placed something over the hole to prevent anything from entering the building. Spencer observed the damage that was located on the northeast side of the building and estimated that the hole was about the size of a baseball. Williams stated he would like to file a report. Spencer told him an incident report would be completed and placed on file at the White County Sheriff’s Department.
On the evening of January 13th while on routine patrol, White County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Matt Wicker saw an ATV being driven by 31 year old Charley Buchanan of Enfield on the roadway. It was travelling eastbound on North Street in between Main Street and Walnut Street in Enfield. The Deputy initiated a traffic stop and recognized the driver as Buchanan. He was aware that Buchanan did not have a valid driver’s license. Enfield Police Chief Mark Worlds then arrived on scene to assist. Buchanan gave the Deputy an Illinois ID only card, which was run through dispatch and came back that she had a revoked license in Illinois. Buchanan was arrested for Driving While License Revoked and taken to the White County Jail. The ATV was towed from the scene. Charley Buchanan bonded out to $250 plus a $20 booking fee later that night.
