Local Sports Recap – September 16, 2022

The Carmi-White County girls golf team traveled to Marion yesterday and defeated both Marion and West Frankfort. The Lady Bulldogs were led by Ava Shiever who shot a 49. Maeve Atteberry shot a 53. Courtney Snow and Kinley Carter both shot 54s, and Sadie Balding shot a 61. 

The CWC Girls tennis team defeated Salem on the road yesterday 6-3. Johanna Smith, Olivia Cox, Ellie Kiser and Gracin Rice all won their singles matches. Smith and Cox won their doubles match, as did Rice and Sophia Smith. The girls tennis team will travel to Fairfield on Tuesday. 

The CWC Cross Country Team ran at NCOE yesterday. Tanner Spence came in 2nd place, Gabbie Conover came in 5th and Ally Pollard finished 9th. Cross-Country will be off all of next week, they will travel to Robinson on the 29th. 

The Carmi-White County Volleyball came away with a thrilling 3-set victory on the road in Hamilton County last night. The Lady Bulldogs fell in the first set 23-25, but came back and won the final two sets 25-23 and 25-21. CWC Volleyball will be back at home on Monday when they host Christopher. 

Tonight the Carmi-White County football team will host Christopher-Zeigler Royalton at home. A win will improve the Bulldogs to 4-0 for the first time since 2011. Kickoff is set for 7 PM, the pregame show on 97.3 FM WRUL and on the WRUL Sports YouTube Channel will begin at 6:45 PM. 

Saturday’s CWC Athletics schedule has the boys and girls golf teams at the Salem Invitational, Junior High softball hosts Mt. Carmel, and Jr. Pro football will host Flora.
