The Carmi-White County girls tennis team hosted Mt. Carmel at Bradshaw Park on Tuesday afternoon. The Lady Bulldogs were defeated by a score of 9-0. Head coach Chris Courty says it’s the first time Mt. Carmel has defeated Carmi in about 8 years, but this year’s Aces squad is very senior heavy, unlike CWC. The girls tennis team will travel to Mt. Vernon Illinois tomorrow afternoon.
The Carmi Jr Pro football teams played their annual Tuesday night game before Labor Day weekend last night. The 5th and 6th grade team hosted Edwards County, and the 7th and 8th grade team hosted Mt. Carmel. The 5th and 6th graders lost by a final of 46-14, and the 7th and 8th graders lost a close one, 20-16. Both Jr Pro teams will have the rest of the week off, their next contest is September 10th at Eldorado.
Today the Carmi boys and girls golf teams will host Eldorado and Mt. Vernon, IN at the Carmi Country Club. Match will begin around 4 PM.
And this afternoon the junior high baseball and softball teams will host Albion Grade School, who are the defending junior high state champions in both baseball and softball. First pitch for both games is set for 4:30. Today is the first of three games in three days for junior high baseball and softball.
