Carmi Mayor Jeff Pollard says an electrical fire at the Carmi City Pool Tuesday night has forced it’s closure for the season. Pollard says there’s no estimate on repair time due to some wiring having to be fixed and by the time it’s done, the pool would need regular cleaning maintenance. Therefore the decision has been made to go ahead and close the local cooling spot for the season. Pollard says the pool manager will be in touch with anyone who has a pool party or event scheduled and a refund will be issued.
