Burglaries, Trespassing and Criminal Damage, Oh my!

The White County Sherrif’s Department has been busy investigating multiple incidents around the county.

The WCSD received a call from Michael Barbre of 115 Glendale Ave in Carmi, wanting to file a report for damage done to his property. On February 26th, Barbre went in to the SD and spoke with an officer concerning damage done to a field he owns and that the vehicle was still there stuck in the mud. Barbre went to the field and took photos of the car. He stated that the car left deep tire marks in the field and wanted to sign a probable cause complaint. We have no more information on the story at this time.

Also, on February 26th, the WCSD received a report of a Burglary that had taken place at the residence of James R McKay, at 1645 County Road 1410 in Crossville. Following the call, an Officer with the WCSD met with McKay who told the officer that he was pulling into his driveway at approximately 4:30 POM when he saw a female subject walking in his back yard carrying a piece of scrap metal. McKay said he confronted the woman and asked why she was on his property, to which she said she had stopped to relieve herself. McKay asked the woman if anyone was inside his residence and she said no. The woman then got into a vehicle parked on a lease road south of the property. As the woman began to pull away from the property, a male ran out from the bushes and got into the car. McKay told the officer that his door was standing open, which was closed when he arrived. When McKay went into his home, the place had been ransacked. He stated he couldn’t tell if anything had been taken from his home due to the mess. A report was made and is on file at the WCSD. The Officer told McKay he would keep him advised of any information that becomes available.

On March 1st, a Crossville woman reported Criminal Damage to her residence located at 405 W Rudolph Street Apt 11B in Crossville. Teresa I Fisk spoke with an officer from the White County Sheriff’s Department and stated that someone had used what she believed to be a BB or Pellet gun to shoot holes in both the upper and lower glass section of her front storm door. Fisk said she’s had problems in the past with people doing things to her residence, but said she has never reported any of the past incidents to the Police. Fisk stated that she had already spoken with the White County Housing Authority maintenance personnel and that photos had been taken of the damage for the Housing Authority. Fisk said that she wanted to make a report about the matter. The officer told her a report would be made and placed on file at the White County Sheriff’s Department. Fisk stated that she would follow up with the Housing Authority about the situation. The officer stated that he would also advise members of the Sheriff’s Department to conduct extra patrols in the area when possible.

On March 3rd, a burglary was reported by Herbie L Woods reported the attempted burglary of fluid ends. Woods told the officer that he had arrived at his pumping well at about 6:30 AM, located at 1750 E by Illinois 14. He stated when he got there he observed a male subject driving a vehicle that was pulling a fluid end. Woods confronted the male who gave him his name and said he had gotten into an argument with a buddy, so he was hiding the fluid ends from him. Woods took pictures of the fluid ends being drug by the vehicle and stated one fluid end was left at the scene. A report was written and placed on file at the WCSD.

On March 5th, Greg Brown of 1400 Lower New Harmony Road in Mt Vernon, IN, reported that someone had burglarized his property. He told the Officer that a friend drove by the property and noticed the overhead door was opened. Brown said he had left the property on March 4th and it was secure and that no one had permission to be on the property or in the storage unit. Brown stated his 4-wheeler was taken with a 35 gallon spray tank on the back and that access was gained by pushing an air conditioning unit out of a window. Brown said the 4-wheeler is a green Polaris Sportsman with a sprayer on the back. The sprayer was a clear material filled with a brown liquid. He said nothing else appeared to be missing but his Forklift and Jet Skis had been moved. After walking through the unit the Officer advised Brown to secure the building and not touch anything. The officer then requested to have the scene processed by Crime Scene.

Also on March 5th, another report involving a stolen four wheeler was made. Jessica Allison of Taylor Texas, said someone had stolen a four wheeler from the Solar Farm in January. Allison stated the 4-wheeler was unsecured outside because the Solar Farm has their personal security system. She said that it was a rental from Sunbelt, and that it’s last known location was at the Solar Farm on January 19th. According to Allison, the staff left the property for a few days, returning on January 24th. By then, the 4-wheeler was missing. It is described as a green Kawasaki 4010 that’s estimated to be worth $25,000. Allison stated that she wants to pursue charges on behalf of the Solar Farm and the rental company if the 4-wheeler is found.
