The Illinois Association of County Board Members says it is time to amend the Illinois Income Tax Act and give back more tax funds to local governments. Until January 2011, 10 percent of total income tax collections were dedicated to the Local Government Distributive Fund for distribution to municipalities and counties. That number is now closer to 6 percent.
That is lobbyist Taylor Anderson, who says the cancelled legislative session days could throw a wrench into the works.
The General Assembly has met for only one day this month due to concerns over rising coronavirus cases.
