A two-vehicle traffic crash with injuries happened Wednesday evening at around 7:30 according to Illinois State Police District 19.
Nicholas Smith, 40, of Fairfield was driving his 2014 Dodge Ram eastbound on County Road 1220 North in Wayne County and 60 year old Mark Beehn of Salem was travelling Northbound on County Road One in his 2010 Kenworth Truck Tractor-Semi Trailer. Smith failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of the two roads and Beehn struck Smith’s vehicle on the passenger side. Both vehicles left the roadway and came to rest northeast of the intersection. Mark Beehn was transported to an area hospital with injuries.
No further information will be released at this time.
Nicholas Smith was issued citations for Disobeying a Stop Sign, Possession of Open Alcohol by Driver, Expired Registration, No Insurance, and Driver Required to Wear a Seat Belt.
