The members of the Carmi Township committee made several decisions for the future of the town at the monthly Carmi township meeting held on November 9th.

At the top of the agenda was the proposed approval for the future website. Ruth McAllister, clerk of the township, over the last month has done extensive research about the benefits of the website’s guidelines, uses, and benefits. Greg Stewart, board member, commented saying that introduction of the website will inevitably be required by law and the board should get ahead before it is too late. Pam Deig, treasurer, hopes that the website will help connect more with the community and give members of Carmi more access to what the township has to offer. In the end, the website was approved.

Other topics of discussion were the road commissioner, Chris McEwing, saying the current road project was the raising of a road using recycled materials from a farmer. In addition it was said that the township will once again not go into Truth and Taxation since the levy is under 5%. Botsch and Associates will be in attendance at the next meeting to further discuss the levy and other funds.

The township board is dismissed until the closed meeting on December 2nd to discuss the employee handbook. The next meeting that is open to the public is on December 14th at 6 p.m.
