The Carmi American Legion Post 224 is off to a 3-1 start to their season after a shootout in Mt. Vernon, Indiana last night. Posts 106 and 224 combined for a total of 31 hits and Carmi walked away with a 14-10 win. Zack Roark picked up the win despite giving up 9 hits and 6 runs, only 2 earned. Roark walked two and failed to strike anyone out. Carmi suffered from 5 defensive miscues. CJ Richardson came on to pitch the final inning and two-thirds giving up 4 more runs, 3 of them earned on 4 hits while striking out and walking one each. Everybody got in on the offensive onslaught for Coach Pat Stewart. Noah Sweeny did the most damage going 3 for 4 and driving in 4 himself. Devin Rankin, Cal York, Wade Sauls, Tanner Spence, and Roark all went 2 for 4 on the day. Up next, the Legion team will head to Grayville for a double header with first pitch in game one slated for 6pm.
