We Love White County Wins Grant from Welborn Baptist Foundation

A White County non profit is among 31 organizations winning grants from the Welborn Baptist Foundation.  Abbey Gholson and Alex Aud were on hand recently to receive the grant on behalf of We Love White County.  Welborn is investing more than $2.6 million dollars through 35 grants to local organizations working to make their communities better.  Welborn says the most fundamental driver of change is a community with well equipped, trained non profit leadership at all levels and they aim to fund programs with high community impact, in critical focus areas.  Among the foundation’s priorities are Early Learning, Healthy Eating & Active Living, and Christ-Centered Living and that’s where they say they target their investments.

We Love White County is celebrating a year in existence and a productive 12 months it has proven to be.  From setting up a mobile food pantry to gifting a donation of more than $50,000 specifically earmarked to construct the downtown city park to raising nearly $17,000 to help purchase a wheelchair lift/handicap accessible van for a family in the community, and much more, the organization and it’s members wasted no time making a massive impact on the area.  Among the projects the non profit has planned for this year include the potential launch of a mentoring program to serve Carmi White County and NCOE school districts and sustaining a food backpack program to help deliver food to families on a consistent basis.
