The Carmi White County Lady Bulldogs softball team traveled to Marion Tuesday afternoon and ran into a buzzsaw. A rare occurrence as CWCHS softball got shortgamed, 11-0 in 6 innings. Freshman phenom Audrey Upton who has seen quite a bit of success got some good experience against a really good Lady Wildcat battery. Upton pitched 4 innings giving up 8 hits and striking out only 2. Kadie Simmons, fellow freshman pitched the other inning allowing the final 2 runs that allowed the 10 run rule to take effect. Marion’s pitcher had her mojo working tossing a complete 6 inning 3 hitter. Kendall Rooney picked up 2 of those hits.
On the track, Carmi White County’s Ty Barbre turned in personal bests according to his mom in both the mile and two mile. Barbre ran the 1600 in 4:27 and logged a 9:34:6 two mile. Barbre’s two mile time also set a Rick Book Invitational record which was previously set in 2005 at 9:49:2. The Bulldogs finished second up in Fairfield for the Rick Book Invitational. We’ve got finishes for the meet on our website at wrul.com. Finishing first in events Tuesday afternoon were Gavin Peyton in the Shot Put with a distance of 36 feet, 2 inches and Barbre’s mile and two mile wins.
