The Carmi Rifle Club will host a Brownells/NRA Day on Saturday, June 5th. Valinda Rowe is the event director and says she’s proud to continue southern Illinois’ rich heritage of firearm ownership and sport shooting. It’s open to men, women and youth ages 9 and up and is partially funded by a grant through the Friends of the NRA Foundation. Rowe says it’s a unique opportunity for locals to learn about the importance of firearm safety and to participate in a variety of shooting sports.
The rifle club will provide lunch, hearing and eye protection, and also all the firearms and ammunition for the event. Attendance is limited to the first 25 participants to register and the cost for the day is $30. The Carmi Rifle Club is just off Highway 1 east of town, across the road from the Vibracoustic plant. To register or for more details, contact Valinda Rowe at 618-963-2788.
