HARRISBURG, Ill. (April 1, 2021) – Kylie Mosby of Hardin County signs her intent to compete with the Southeastern Illinois College Falcon Archers this fall.
Mosby is currently a member of the Hardin County High School (HCHS) Archery Team.
“When I started archery, I had little to no idea what I was doing, but thanks to my family, coaches, and teammates, I’ve come so far and couldn’t be happier,” said Kylie Mosby.
Kylie started shooting her freshman year in high school. Her sophomore year, she was the Illinois State Scholastic 3-D Archery (S3DA) Champion.
“It has been an honor to watch Kylie progress as an archer on the Hardin County S3DA team. Her passion for archery, dedication to practice, and commitment to her team will make her an excellent addition to SIC’s Archery Team,” said Susan Armstrong, former HCHS archery coach and current principal.
Mosby plans to attend SIC for general studies, then transfer to a 4-year university majoring in culinary arts. She hopes to one day be a chef on a cruise ship.
“I am excited to have Kylie on the archery team. I have watched Kylie compete since her first year on the high school archery team, and she has come a long way. I can’t wait to see what she will accomplish because she will never stop trying to get better,” said head SIC archery coach Ricky Sauls.
Mosby has a long list of activities and accomplishments in high school, including FFA, 4-H Teens as Teachers, chess club, drama club, cross-country, the National Honor Society, and of course the archery team.
“I am very proud of Kylie, and her hard work has definitely paid off,” said Stephanie Mosby, Kylie’s mother and current HCHS archery coach.
The SIC Archery Team started with a small group of students as a pilot program in 2011. Since that time, the Falcon Archers have won national awards against Division I universities, added an indoor facility and indoor team, and host high school tournaments.
