50 year old Michael W. French, of Carmi, was sentenced to 9 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, Monday, in White County Court, on a Class 1 Felony Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver. His stay will be followed by 2 years Mandatory Supervised Release.
French was also ordered to pay court costs. He was arrested in October after officers of the Carmi Police Department executed a search warrant at his house. In pleading guilty, French admitted to possessing between 5 and 15 grams of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver said methamphetamine. He was on probation for a separate methamphetamine offense at the time of his arrest. French was represented by Public Defender Brian Shinkle. Judge T. Scott Webb was the presiding judge that imposed the sentence.
