Officer Jonathan Lucas on behalf of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 249 says the Kids Christmas through a partnership with Huck’s Karing for Kids program was a tremendous success in spite of it being what he calls, “the worst year ever.” Although, cops weren’t able to shop with the children, which Lucas says is always fun, the Shop with a Cop program was able to deliver clothes and gifts to the doorsteps of 70 kids on Christmas Eve this year. In addition to gifts, children also received Huck’s goody bags stuffed with free food coupons, toys, and snacks.
Lucas says, “Donations from the community which included monetary, clothes, and toys far exceeded what we anticipated coming in during this pandemic. The excitement on the children’s faces when they realized the bags full of gifts being dropped off were for them was absolutely priceless. I am truly amazed at the giving spirit of this community whether it be individuals, businesses, organizations, or churches. Again, thank you all, our community, for being so caring and charitable. May God bless you all this coming year.”
This was the 21st year for the Shop with a Cop program in White County.
