Egyptian Health Department Reports 1 White County Death; 55 New COVID-19 Cases Wednesday

Egyptian Health Department was notified Wednesday of a White County Resident who has passed away due to complications of Coronavirus (COVID-19). The Egyptian Health Department is saddened by this news and their thoughts are with the family.

 

In addition, the Health Department is reporting 55 new tri-county residents who have tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19).  Among them…

 

  • Saline County (28)
    • 1 male under the age of 10
    • 2 females in their teens
    • 2 females in their 20’s
    • 3 males in their 20’s
    • 3 females in their 30’s
    • 2 males in their 30’s
    • 1 female in her 40’s
    • 2 females in their 50’s
    • 1 male in his 50’s
    • 1 female in her 60’s
    • 3 males in their 60’s
    • 2 females in their 70’s
    • 1 male in his 70’s
    • 2 males in their 80’s
    • 1 female in her 90’s

    • 1 female in her teens

    • 1 male under the age of 10

    • 1 male in his 80’s

 

To date, Saline County has had a total of 1,885 lab confirmed positives, including 31 deaths, 696 have recovered, White County has had a total of 1,208 lab-confirmed positives, including 19 deaths, 344 have recovered, and Gallatin County has a total of 367 lab-confirmed positives of COVID-19, including 3 deaths, 166 have recovered. The Illinois Department of Public Health, their healthcare provider, and the individuals have all been notified and are monitoring the situation.

 

As cases increase, the number of close contacts increases for individuals who need to be quarantined increase. However, the following options to shorten quarantine are acceptable alternatives:

  • Quarantine can end after Day 10 without testing and if no symptoms have been reported during daily monitoring. With this strategy, residual post-quarantine transmission risk is estimated to be about 1% with an upper limit of about 10%.
  • Quarantine can end after Day 7 if a diagnostic specimen tests negative and if no symptoms were reported during daily monitoring. The specimen may be collected and tested within 48 hours before the time of planned quarantine discontinuation (e.g., in anticipation of testing delays), but quarantine cannot be discontinued earlier than Day 8. In other words, the earliest they could test would be on Day6. With this strategy, the residual post-quarantine transmission risk is estimated to be about 5% with an upper limit of about 12%.

IDPH announced that Illinois had a total of 7,374 new confirmed cases and 178 additional deaths. Bringing the total of 955,380 confirmed cases and 16,357 deaths in Illinois.
