Chamber Announces Intention to Award Business Grant to the Tune of $2,500

One of the important questions the Carmi Chamber of Commerce has repeatedly asked itself over several decades is how to best show value to it’s membership.  A new initiative aims to deliver on that “what’s in it for me” question in the form of a Business Grant in the amount of $2,500.  Chamber members received an email about the grant along with guidelines, an application, and details Wednesday morning from Chamber Executive Director Kelly Northcott.
In it, she says, “The Carmi Chamber of Commerce is excited to now be accepting applications for our first ever Business Grant.  The $2,500 grant will be presented to one recipient that will be chosen by the Board of Directors.”
Among the guidelines, applicants must be a member in good standing for the past 3 consecutive years.  Additionally, suitors will be required to fill out and submit the application before the end of the year and there are a handful of conditions if chosen to receive the award which include allowing the Chamber to promote the business as recipient, an agreement to continue with Chamber membership for the following 3 years, and grant funds must be used and reported to the Chamber by the end of February, 2021.
The new Business Grant award replaces the teacher grants that used to be handed out by the Chamber.  While education is still of importance to the organization as evidenced by the annual scholarship and partnership with the White County CEO program, the Chamber felt this award was a better way to answer and fulfill it’s duty to assist it’s member businesses.
