Egyptian Health Department Reports 2 White County Deaths and 18 New COVID Cases Wednesday

Egyptian Health Department was notified of two White County residents who have passed away due to complications of Coronavirus (COVID-19). We, at Egyptian Health Department, are saddened by this news and our thoughts are with the families.

Egyptian Health Department was notified on October 21, 2020, of eighteen Southeastern Illinois residents who have tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19). The individuals include:

  • Saline County
    • a female, in her teens, at home and in isolation
    • a female, in her teens, at home and in isolation
    • a female, in her teens, case status in progress
    • a female, in her 20’s, at home and in isolation
    • a female, in her 40’s, at home and is isolation
    • a female, in her 50’s, at home and in isolation
    • a female, in her 60’s, at home and in isolation
    • a male, in his 60’s, at home and in isolation
    • a male, in his 60’s, case status in progress
    • a female, in her 70’s, case status in progress
    • a female, in her 70’s, case status in progress
    • a male, in his 70’s, case status in progress
    • a male, in his 80’s, case status in progress
    • a female, in her 90’s, case status in progress
    • a female, in her 90’s, case status in progress
  • White County
    • a female, in her 20’s, at home and in isolation
    • a male, in his 30’s, at home and in isolation
    • a male, in his 50’s, at home and in isolation

To date, Saline County has had a total of 542 lab confirmed positives, including 9 deaths, White County has had a total of 259 lab-confirmed positives, including 3 deaths, and Gallatin County has a total of 118 lab-confirmed positives of COVID-19, including 2 deaths. The Illinois Department of Public Health, their healthcare provider, and the individuals have all been notified and are monitoring the situation.

*Case status in progress means that Contact Tracers are currently making contact with the COVID-19 positive case to determine where the individual is located (ie: at home or hospitalized).

As cases increase, the number of close contacts increases for individuals who need to be quarantined for a minimum of 14 days. To help slow the spread of COVID-19 in our communities, please answer your phone. Contact Tracers may be calling you to let you know that you have been exposed to a confirmed COVID-19 positive. Remember to maintain physical distancing of 6 feet or more at all times.

If you have been tested for COVID-19, please remember that you have to isolate at home until you have received your test results. Please note: If you have received results for a COVID-19 Rapid Test– ???????????????? or ????????????????– you should still ?????????????? until you receive your lab-confirmed results.  Help stop the spread of COVID-19 in your community.

IDPH announced that Illinois has 4,342  new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 69 additional deaths. Bringing the total to 355,217 confirmed cases and 9,345 deaths in Illinois.

Wash your hands frequently. Wear a face covering if you have to go out. Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces. Remain 6 feet apart from others.
