About HeartSaver

HeartSaver is a program of The Heart Hospital at Deaconess Gateway and Deaconess Foundation created to reduce sudden death through placement of life-saving AEDs in the Tri-State. To date, the HeartSaver committee has raised enough money to place 445 AEDs in schools, community centers, first responder vehicles, and other large gathering places throughout the region. To date, at least 10 lives have been saved by using HeartSaver-donated AEDs.

An AED is a portable device that can send an electric shock to the heart in an attempt to restore normal heart rhythm. AEDs are used to treat sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). Sudden cardiac arrest usually causes death if it’s not treated within minutes. Using an AED on a person having SCA may save the person’s life.
