Men Charged in Liquor Related Crash/Death of Isaiah Snowden

Franklin County State’s Attorney Evan Owens has charged a Benton man for unlawful delivery of alcoholic liquor to a minor.  That offense allegedly led to the death of an 17 year old Isaiah Snowden in October.

On or around October 24, Michael Lee Wyant, Jr. knowingly delivered alcohol to a person under 21 that resulted in the death of Snowden according to Owens.  Wyant is currently being held in the Franklin County Jail on $30,000 bond.  The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the case as part of the aggravated DUI crash on Akin Blacktop.

Clay Kelley, 17, of rural Macedonia was charged days later with aggravated DUI. Kelley was driving the vehicle Snowden and two others were in when it ran through a stop sign, hit a tree and eventually crashed into a home at the intersection of Akin Blacktop and Bessie Road.

Owens added that a Franklin County Grand Jury returned an indictment against Johnathon E. Goddard of Bessie Road in Benton on Dec. 11 charging him with obstructing justice.  That indictment was for providing false information to a deputy investigating the death and a party where alcoholic liquors were present among under aged individuals.
