Egyptian Health Department Reports Two Saline County COVID Deaths and Nine New COVID Cases Monday

Egyptian Health Department was notified of two Saline County residents who have passed away due to complications of Coronavirus (COVID-19). We, at Egyptian Health Department, are saddened by this news and our thoughts are with the families.

Egyptian Health Department was notified on October 5, 2020, of nine Southeastern Illinois residents who have tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19). The individuals include:

  • Saline County
    • a female, in her teens, at home and in isolation
    • a female, in her teens, at home and in isolation
    • a female, in her 20’s, at home and in isolation
    • a female, in her 20’s, at home and in isolation
    • a male, in his 40’s, at home and in isolation
    • a female, in her 60’s, at home and in isolation
    • a male, in his 70’s, at home and in isolation
  • White County
    • a male, in his 40’s, at home and in isolation
    • a male, in his 50’s, at home and in isolation

To date, Saline County has had a total of 414 lab confirmed positives, including 6 deaths, White County has had a total of 192 lab-confirmed positives and 1 death, and Gallatin County has a total of 81 lab-confirmed positives of COVID-19, including 2 deaths. The Illinois Department of Public Health, their healthcare provider, and the individuals have all been notified and are monitoring the situation.

*Case status in progress means that Contact Tracers are currently making contact with the COVID-19 positive case to determine where the individual is located (ie: at home or hospitalized).

As cases increase, the number of close contacts increases for individuals who need to be quarantined for a minimum of 14 days. To help slow the spread of COVID-19 in our communities, please answer your phone. Contact Tracers may be calling you to let you know that you have been exposed to a confirmed COVID-19 positive. Remember to maintain physical distancing of 6 feet or more at all times.

If you have been tested for COVID-19, please remember that you have to isolate at home until you have received your test results. Please note: If you have received results for a COVID-19 Rapid Test– ???????????????? or ????????????????– you should still ?????????????? until you receive your lab-confirmed results.  Help stop the spread of COVID-19 in your community.

IDPH announced that Illinois had 1,853 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 14 additional deaths. Bringing the total to 303,394 confirmed cases and 8,805 deaths in Illinois.

Watch your distance (6 ft!)

Wash your hands frequently. Wear a face covering if you have to go out. Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces. Remain 6 feet apart from others.
