Illinois State Police District 19 Investigates Two Fatal Traffic Crashes Saturday

Illinois State Police District 19 responded to two separate fatal traffic crashes Saturday in Wayne County.

 

The first crash happened around 3:52 p.m. as 57 year old Todd Bosler of Sandoval and 36 year old Jonathan Stanley of Fairfield were both traveling northbound on US 45 at County Road 1125 North, when Bosler’s 2005 Mack Truck/Tractor Semi Trailer combination struck the rear of Stanley’s 1996 Oldsmobile. Stanley died as a result of the accident. Bosler was cited for Driving Too Fast for Conditions.

 

The second crash happened around 7:22 p.m. as a 69 year old male of West Salem was traveling eastbound on County Road 16, East of County Road 1100 East when his 2011 Nissan entered a ditch on the south side of the roadway traveling through the ditch eastbound and exiting the ditch, traveling northeast across County Highway 16, before entering a ditch on the north side of County Highway 16, striking a culvert on the other side and coming to rest in a corn field. The name of the deceased driver has not been released pending notification of the next of kin.
