A 41 year old Carmi man, Walter David Bertram, was sentenced Monday, in White County Court, after a lengthy hearing, to 9 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on a class 3 felony charge of Attempted Burglary. His sentence will be followed by one year of Mandatory Supervised Release.
Bertram had originally been placed on probation in 2017 for an attempted burglary of a house in Carmi in 2015. For various reasons, a petition to revoke his probation was eventually filed with his probation being revoked and a new sentencing hearing being scheduled. Bertram was represented by Public Defender Brian Shinkle. Judge T. Scott Webb was the presiding judge.
