A 32 year old Carmi man, John D. Smith, was sentenced in White County Court Monday to 4 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by 1 year of Mandatory Supervised Release for Class 3 Felony Unlawful Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. Smith’s case was investigated by the Carmi Police Department. Public Defender Brian Shinkle represented Smith. Judge T. Scott Webb was the presiding judge that imposed the sentence at the conclusion of the sentencing hearing.
