SIC Summer and Fall 2020 Registration

HARRISBURG, Ill. (April 3, 2020) – The faculty and staff of Southeastern Illinois College have dedicated themselves to ensure students can continue the pursuit of their higher education, despite the current conditions mandated by the COVID-19 virus.

Registration for summer and fall classes begins Monday, April 6 at SIC. Many classes are available online.

Kyla Burford, Associate Dean of Student Services and Registrar at SIC, says, “Even though Student Affairs personnel have been working remotely, we are still here to serve our students. We have developed innovative registration options, such as students being able to schedule Zoom advisement meetings for face-to-face registration with an academic advisor.”

An interactive YouTube tutorial has been developed to walk current students through registering via their MySIC accounts. And SIC calls are now set up to be forwarded to employee cell phones. For example, if a student calls the advisement or admissions extensions (618-252-5400, ext. 4130 and 4120, respectively), a representative should be available to answer remotely during regular office hours. Detailed information about admissions and registration can be found at www.sic.edu/admissions.

Students continuing their education with SIC may register for summer and fall 2020 courses via their MySIC accounts. An email (from the student’s Falconmail account) addressed to an academic advisor at [email protected] is another registration option. It must be noted that courses with certain pre-requisite requirements do not have the availability of registration via MySIC. In these cases, students must email [email protected] or [email protected] for permission to enroll. Registration questions can be answered by contacting advisors, as well.

New students and those who have not been enrolled for a year or more must contact an advisor via email or phone to begin the process of application and enrollment. If using a personal email account (i.e., Google, Yahoo) to contact an advisor, identity will need to be authenticated by providing date of birth and the last four digits of the individual’s Social Security number.

Students can order books online at www.sic.edu/bookstore beginning May 18.

Since the closure of campus in mid-March, SIC has worked diligently to change formats to remote-learning for classes typically held on-site. SIC has also worked to provide students with the tools they need to succeed through remote learning. Such efforts are tangible, as students can now gain internet access via the north parking lot Wi-Fi hot spot on campus. The newly-founded web access point is one of many examples of SIC’s work to ensure the continuation of student education.

For further information on learning remotely, students can visit www.sic.edu/technology-help-center/learning-remotely, also found from the homepage www.sic.edu. Here, students will find information regarding login accounts, Wi-Fi services, online classes, student services, tutoring, Falcon Mail, technical support, and a link to a FAQ webpage.

For other up-to-date information regarding SIC’s response to COVID-19, including more information on the north parking lot Wi-Fi hot spot, students may visit www.sic.edu/coronavirus.
