Operation Encouragement Started by Fairfield Memorial Hospital

Fairfield Memorial Hospital is launching a program called Operation Encouragement to help provide emotional support to its Skilled Care Unit residents.

For the safety and well-being of our older population who live in healthcare facilities, such as Skilled Care Units, visitors have been restricted from visiting their loved ones until this pandemic outbreak has subsided. Per CMS regulations, they are also not allowed to participate in group activities or communal dining. While it is being done to protect their physical health, we also have to protect their emotional well-being.

Fairfield Memorial Hospital has taken steps to ensure that residents are able to visit with their loved ones through the use of iPads and other electronic mechanisms. Our Information Technology staff are available to assist our residents’ friends and families with any technical support they may need to help stay connected to their loved ones. We are also providing one-on-one activities, however, we would like to take it one step further. We are encouraging the public to take a minute to send a card or a letter to let the greatest generation know that we are thinking of them and to give them something to brighten their day until this time of crisis is resolved.

Cards and well-wishes for Skilled Care Unit residents can be mailed to 303 NW 11th Street, Fairfield, IL 62837, Attn: Skilled Care Unit Residents. If you would like to deliver your gift of encouragement to the hospital, please call FMH Administration at 618-847-8367 to make arrangements to drop off your items for the Skilled Care Unit.
