Carmi Police had a busy weekend.
30 year old Robert Anthony Belka of Carmi was stopped by Carmi Police Friday morning and placed under arrest for driving on a revoked license. He was also charged with Improper Use of Registration, Unlawful Display of Registration Sticker Not Authorized for the Vehicle, Possession of Meth, Unlawful Use of Property and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Belka was also cited for No Insurance. A passenger, Tarynn L. Browning, 22 of Carmi, was arrested for Possession of Meth and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Both were given the opportunity to take a drug test through the Probation Office due to their probation/parole status to prove the meth was not theirs. Both refused.
A 37 year old Owensville, Indiana woman, Jara Barfield was arrested by Carmi Police Friday night. Walmart reported an attempted shoplifting by two females in a yellow Monte Carlo. Officers located the car still in the lot with Barfield the only occupant. A check revealed that Barfield’s license was suspended. Surveillance footage showed her driving into the lot. She was arrested and additionally charged with Possession of Meth, Unlawful Use of Property, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of a Hypodermic syringe. A used syringe, pipe with meth in it and a plastic container with meth were located in a purse and backpack in her car. Barfield is currently being held in the White County Jail.
Delbert W. Hobson, 53, of Carmi, was arrested by Carmi Police Sunday night for Domestic Battery and Possession of a Firearm without a valid FOID card after a 9-1-1 call to his residence.
47 year old, Kimberly S. Rose, of Carmi, is free after posting $100 bond Sunday night following her arrest for Aggravated Assault. Carmi Police were dispatched to her home at 605 North Seventh Street in reference to a domestic situation. Rose told officers no weapons were involved with the call, but if officers did not get there she was going to get a knife and slice the male’s throat.
